My wife, Alicia, and I got involved with OCR in 2015. An obstacle race was on our bucket list, and Conquer The Gauntlet Wichita was the first OCR we signed up for. I had met Troy Bruns at my CrossFit™ box and knew he trained for these kinds of races. I asked him for some training tips, and he introduced us the Mid America OCR group (MAOCR). After training with them for a couple months, they convinced us to run the Spartan Austin Super/Sprint weekend. During that weekend, we both knew we were hooked on the sport! Since then, we have run in every OCR we could find the time and money to attend!

OCR has provided us opportunities to go places and meet amazing people that we never would have come in contact with otherwise. It has pushed us to step out of our comfort zones and push our limits and help us come together as a couple. We love the people and atmosphere that race day brings.

We are completely hooked on OCR, and hope to continue to race for years to come. Our boys are also excited about our accomplishments and eagerly await their chance to run in them as well. We can’t wait for the 2016 season!
