WHAT IS CTG CONTINUUM®?
CTG Continuum® is a competitive multi-lap option of Conquer The Gauntlet®.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Runners competing in the CTG Continuum® must begin with the elite wave. Instead of crossing the finish line they will enter the ‘Continuum’ and begin another lap. Runners will attempt to complete as many laps as possible in the allotted time. The cut off time to START your final lap is 5 hours after the start of the elite wave.
CTG CONTINUUM® ‘LIONS DEN’ Pit Zone-
There will be a designated ‘LIONS DEN’ pit zone in the festival area between the start and finish lines where competitors can rest, recover, refuel, and be encouraged by the members their ‘Pride’. The ONLY individuals, outside of competitors, permitted into the ‘LIONS DEN’ are the 3 crew members of each competitors ‘Pride’. Each competitor will be assigned a designated ‘stall’ where they can set their personal belongings (rehydration packs, 1 chair, water, snack, etc.). There will NO outside tents, tables, vehicles, or pets allowed in the ‘LIONS DEN’.
THE PRIDE –
Each competitor of CTG Continuum® is allowed to choose 3 members to be in their ‘PRIDE’. These members must wear their CTG Continuum® ‘PRIDE’ wrist band at all times and must be a spectator or runner of the CTG event. ‘PRIDE’ members may only provide assistance to the Continuum participant while in the ‘LIONS DEN’. If a ‘PRIDE’ member is a registered CTG runner they may not run additional laps alongside the Continuum competitor without purchasing additional laps at the INFO tent (the ‘PRIDE’ crew member wristband is not a free, all access, unlimited pass to running the course. It is for the members who have been chosen by the Continuum competitor to help them recover and be encouraged as they finish and begin laps.)
All standard CTG rules will apply, but some modifications have been made to CTG’s standard mandatory obstacle competition rules, these modifications will pertain only to those running the Continuum. Modifications to these rules are detailed below-
For CTG Continuum® competitors there are 4 specific obstacles which can be bypassed, HOWEVER a penalty performance will be required at each for not completing these in order to move on. The 4 obstacles which do not have to be completed EVERY lap are – Pegatron, Stairway to Heaven, Tarzan Swing, and Cliffhanger. Every other obstacle must be completed each lap to be eligible to win 1st place in CTG Continuum® race.
Can I win ‘OVERALL’ first place in the Conquer The Gauntlet race AND win first place in the CTG Continuum® race?
YES. It would take quite an effort, but if you were to be the first male or female to complete all obstacles correctly on your first lap through you would win the Conquer The Gauntlet elite first place race. If you then went on to finish the most laps fastest you would ALSO win the CTG Continuum® race. You still must complete ALL obstacles correctly on your FIRST lap to win first place overall, but on any subsequent laps you could execute the performance penalty to bypass the four obstacles mentioned above.
FAILED OBSTACLE PERFORMANCE PENALTY –
As stated above there are four CTG obstacles which do NOT have to be completed each lap by Continuum participants. To legally bypass those obstacles the competitor must complete 15 Atlas Burpees AND 15 Med Ball Thrusters.
SWAG UPON COMPLETION –
Runners who sign up for the Continuum will receive ALL the standard CTG finish line gear as well as a large CTG CONTINUUM® finishers medal, and CTG CONTINUUM® wrist band.
$40 added onto the current price of the Conquer The Gauntlet registration.
CAN I RUN A SECOND LAP AT CTG WITHOUT DOING CONTINUUM®?
Yes, you can run a second or even third lap on the Conquer The Gauntlet course without registering for CONTINUUM, however extra laps will be $20 each on race day to be paid at the INFO tent. To run more than one lap at CTG you must do one of the three following..
